Classification of corrosion inhibitors for lithium bromide solution
Lithium chromate: original product, the best choice for price and performance.
Lithium chromate is a commonly used corrosion inhibitor for lithium bromide refrigerators. The solution is orange liquid. In the alkaline lithium bromide solution, a dense corrosion-resistant protective film is formed on the surface of the carbon steel in the inner cavity of the unit to increase the service life of the unit.

Main features: The anti-corrosion layer using lithium molybdate stroke is soft, with a thickness of about 0.01mm, and it is not easy to crack.
The oxide film formed on the surface is relatively uniform.
Why add corrosion inhibitors and surfactants to the lithium bromide solution?
Lithium bromide solution is a salt composed of halogen element bromine (Br) and alkali metal element lithium (Li). Lithium bromide solution is corrosive to metal materials, and it is a strong corrosive medium for metal materials such as carbon steel and copper commonly used in lithium bromide absorption units. The role of oxygen and metal is the main factor of corrosion. Under the action of oxygen, metallic iron and copper react with oxygen and water in an alkaline lithium bromide solution to form hydroxides, which eventually form corrosion products such as ferroferric oxide. The electrons lost by the oxidation of iron and copper combine with the hydrogen ions in the solution to generate hydrogen, which is a non-condensable gas.
Therefore, isolating the system from oxygen is the most fundamental anti-corrosion measure. Always maintain a high degree of vacuum in the system, charge nitrogen for maintenance or maintain the vacuum during shutdown, and add corrosion inhibitors to the solution to isolate oxygen and inhibit the corrosive effect of lithium bromide solution. The corrosion inhibitor added to the solution forms a protective film on the metal surface through a chemical reaction to prevent it from being attacked by oxygen or less, thereby producing an anti-corrosion effect. Lithium chromate or lithium molybdate is usually used as corrosion inhibitor. If lithium chromate is used as a corrosion inhibitor, chromium hydroxide is the main component of the protective film. Add 0.1% to 0.3% lithium chromate to the lithium bromide solution, and adjust the pH value in the range of 9 to 10.5. Has a good corrosion inhibition effect. The solubility of lithium chromate in lithium bromide solution is very small. In the early stage of refrigerator operation, more lithium chromate is consumed to form the protective film. After running for a period of time, the protective film gradually thickens and the concentration of lithium chromate decreases, which can be supplemented according to the situation.
